LANE ("we", "our", or "us") is a swim-tracking app for swimmers, parents, guardians, coaches, and summer league teams. This policy explains what data Lane collects, why it is collected, and how you can control it.
What we collect
- Name, email address, sign-in provider, and Firebase user ID for account creation, sign-in, profile display, and support.
- Swimmer profile details such as role, age group, gender, strokes, and level for progress tracking, goals, and league views.
- Swim times, goals, achievements, meet results, and personal meet schedules for the swim log, PBs, and season features.
- Team membership, team role, invite-code activity, admin/coach verification status, cheers, reactions, team messages, and team posts for team features.
- Heat-sheet or results PDFs you upload for private or team meet reference, depending on where you upload them.
- Profile photo, if you choose to add one.
- Photos or camera images selected for OCR. These images are processed on device and are not uploaded as OCR source images.
- PB celebration cards you choose to save to your device photo library.
- Local app settings such as onboarding status, selected league, and guest/team setup flags.
- Public summer-league meet results, where available, such as swimmer name, team, age group, gender, event, time, ranking, and improvement statistics for league ranking and progress-comparison features.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use Lane data for third-party advertising. We do not collect contacts, browsing history, financial information, or precise location.
Lane does not currently use Firebase Analytics in the iOS app.
How we store your data
Lane uses Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage. Account and app data may be stored in Firebase, a Google cloud service. Some settings and cached profile-photo data may also be stored locally on your device.
Data is encrypted in transit. Firebase also encrypts stored data at rest.
How we use your data
- To create and secure your account.
- To show your profile, swim history, goals, achievements, PBs, and season progress.
- To sync your swim data across devices.
- To show team schedules, rosters, messages, posts, cheers, and coach/admin status when you join a team.
- To show league rankings, top times, swimmer progression, All-Star cut tracking, and team rosters based on publicly posted summer-league meet results.
- To store heat-sheet PDFs you upload for personal or team meet reference.
- To process selected images with on-device OCR when you ask Lane to scan times.
- To save PB celebration cards to your photo library when you choose.
- To respond to support, account deletion, or privacy requests.
If you grant notification permission, Lane may use iOS notifications for app reminders or team updates. Lane does not use notification permission for advertising.
Third-party services
- Firebase / Google: authentication, database, and file storage.
- Google Sign-In: optional sign-in method.
- Sign in with Apple: optional sign-in method.
- Apple on-device frameworks such as Vision, Photos, and Camera: OCR, selected photo access, and saving images when you choose.
Team sharing
When you join or create a team, some data is shared with other team members, coaches, or administrators so team features can work. This may include your display name, team role, swim activity posted to the team feed, messages, reactions, cheers, uploaded team PDFs, and team meet information.
Team-shared messages, posts, reactions, and meet records may remain visible to the team after you leave a team or delete your account, because they were shared into a team workspace. Contact us if you need help removing or anonymizing team-shared content.
Public league results
Lane may include publicly posted summer-league meet results from league websites or published meet results. These public results may include swimmer names, teams, age groups, genders, events, times, rankings, and improvement statistics. Lane uses this information to provide league ranking, top-times, All-Star cut, team roster, and progress-comparison features.
Lane does not sell public league result data, use it for third-party advertising, or use it to track users across apps or websites. Public league result features are intended to reflect information already published by the relevant swim league or meet host.
If you are a swimmer, parent, guardian, or league representative and want a swimmer's public league result data removed or anonymized in Lane, contact us at qweasdster@gmail.com. Please include the swimmer name, league/team, and any details that help us find the record.

Children
Lane is intended for swimmers, parents, guardians, coaches, and team administrators. Users must be at least 13 years old to create and manage their own account. If a swimmer is under 13, a parent or legal guardian should create and manage the account.
If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate parent or guardian involvement, or if you want a child's public league result data removed or anonymized, contact us so we can review and delete or anonymize the data if required.
Changes
We may update this policy as Lane changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
